Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA)
The Massachusetts Teachers Association is the largest union in New England, representing 117,000 educators across the state with more than 400 local associations and chapters from Pre-K through Higher Education and even retirees!
The MTA’s Mission:
The Massachusetts Teachers Association is a member-driven organization, governed by democratic principles, that accepts and supports the interdependence of professionalism and unionism. The MTA promotes the use of its members’ collective power to advance their professional and economic interests. The MTA is committed to human and civil rights and advocates for quality public education in an environment in which lifelong learning and innovation flourish.
To work towards this mission, the MTA is routinely advocating for members, defending member rights, and building worker power through organizing, outreach, and learning.
The MTA website has public materials, but once you are a dues paying member, you can make an account and access more details about your rights, MTA Benefits, and contacts in the MTA.
National Education Association (NEA)
The NEA represents the interests of 9 million educators around the country, with the mission of ensuring every student has access to great public schools.
Our mission is to advocate for education professionals and to unite our members and the nation to fulfill the promise of public education to prepare every student to succeed in a diverse and interdependent world.
Similar to the MTA, membership grants us a louder voice at the national level as we advocate for our jobs and students.
